Alone I toiled
Alone I stood
Alone, against the odds,
I survived for those I love
For the possibility to be more
For a future still uncertain
Was it worth the sacrifice?
I never asked for help
It was never tendered

Yet now here I stand
Surrounded by my fellow man
Celebrating our success
Each hoping for their fair share
but truth be told there is nothing to divide
When merely surviving is the prize.
